Warren Christoffersen
the service. Cremation has taken place with interment of cremated remains in the Miles City Veteran's Cemetery planned for a later date. Warren, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II died at home Monday morning, November 19 with his family at his side. He was 88.
Born at Lake Preston, South Dakota November 16, 1924, Warren was one of six children of Alfred and Hattie Pauline Christoffersen. Due to family circumstances the children were separated; He went to live with an aunt, Ray & Anna Judson and later to Froid, with uncle Holger & Marion Christoffersen, where he became very close to his cousins, Fay Weber, Corrine Strand and Kay Sundheim whom he considered to be sisters. He graduated from Froid High School, then entered the U.S. Army, and served in the Pacific during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Froid. He married Carol Burkholder at Rock Lake, North Dakota. They have lived on the farm north of Froid.
He took great pride in his herd of registered Shorthorn cattle, and simply savored the life of a farmer-rancher. You could recognize Warren's laugh across a crowded room, and this gregarious guy was never happier than when he was drinking coffee with the gang at the Co-op and sharing the stories of World War II. He enjoyed farming, feeding his cattle, and going for rides in the country with Carol. Warren was an active part of community life, serving on the board of the Froid Federal Credit Union for well over 50 years; and served on the school board and many other community functions, as well as belonging to the American Shorthorn Association and the Homestead American Legion Post, but his greatest joy was just spending time with his grandchildren.
Warren is survived by his wife Carol, and by five children and their families: Laura Christoffersen and her husband Jens Nielsen, of Culbertson and their children Kyle and Emily; David Christoffersen and his wife Shele, of Froid, and their children Bailey and Carolyne; Craig Christoffersen and his wife Melissa, and children Nicole, Jerramy, Tyler, and Hali; Janet Christoffersen and her companion Ben McDowell, of Sidney, and her children Christoffer, Zach, and Lucy; and Brent Christoffersen and his wife Tara, of Williston, North Dakota, and their daughter Sophia. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, as well as by a sister, Carol Lebsack, of Denver, Colorado, a brother, Raymond Christoffersen, of Froid and cousins, Fay Weber, Corrine Strand, Kay Sundheim and their families. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister,
Jeannette Gade, and two brothers: Harold and Alfred("Bud") Christoffersen.
